Okay, not having a vent server last night really sucked. I wanted to taunt Ult about poker on Saturday night.
I decided to have a look and see how much a vent server of our own would cost. I found one place that would host it for about $17 (USD) for 6 months. Not bad. Thought I would check to see how much it was just to buy the vent server so we could run our own. Turns out, there's a free one available. I downloaded it and put it on my server. Its running right now without a password to connect. I thought maybe we should give it a try, even if its only used when the regular server is down. It only allows up to eight players, but I thought that should work for us for now.
You'll notice at the top right of the page is the status of the server, so you'll actually be able to tell who's connected to it currently (or if its down). There's also a link to let you connect directly without having to go in and enter in the details.

LOL. You read my mind Drew, I was just coming to the site to post a comment about how we should get our own server. I agree, not having vent going sucked!!! So I too had a look around to see how much it would be to rent one. They are cheap. Let's try it and see how it works and handles he load.

That was my thought too. They're cheap enough that renting one isn't out of the question. If this free one works for now, then we'll just go with that. I wasn't planning on putting a password on it unless people we don't want start joining. I figured keep it simple. I can always password protect it later and post the password on the site so only members can see it.
